FSSC 22000 Version 7: your transition guide
What's changed, who it affects and how to transition with evidence, not guesswork
Introduction
FSSC 22000 Version 7 was published in May this year (2026). Certified organizations can still be audited against Version 6 until April 30, 2027, and upgrade audits to Version 7 run from May 1, 2027 to April 30, 2028. The upgrade happens at your next scheduled audit in that window, so your timeline depends on your audit cycle.
For multinational manufacturers, processors, packaging facilities and distributors running complex, multi-site supply chains, this is not a paperwork refresh. The prerequisite program architecture has been rebuilt around the new ISO 22002-x:2025 series, GFSI's 2024 benchmarking requirements have been absorbed into the scheme and sustainability commitments now carry audit weight rather than sitting as a statement of intent. The organizations that manage this well treat it as a structured transition project rather than a last-minute documentation exercise: a clear gap analysis first, then prerequisite program updates, food defense and food fraud competency records, supplier transparency and multi-site consistency. Ideagen Food & Beverage, comprising Ideagen Safe Food and Ideagen Supply Chain, gives teams a single audit-ready platform to manage that transition, rather than tracking it across spreadsheets, shared drives and email threads. This guide walks through what has changed in Version 7, who it affects most and where software removes the manual burden.
How to use this guide
This guide sets out the 10 core aspects of a successful FSSC 22000 Version 7 transition, shown in the interactive framework on the next page. For each aspect, we have mapped the Ideagen Food & Beverage modules that support it. With the full platform available, teams may find additional modules useful depending on their certification scope and site structure.
Please note: The relevance of each module will depend on your organization's current systems, certification scope and site structure. You may find some modules more central to your transition than others.
